AMERICAN DREAM | AMERICAN HUSTLE
AMERICAN DREAM | AMERICAN HUSTLE is part of the MACHINE series. These works explore the duality of both the promise and the pressure of the American Dream, the pride of striving (the hustle) and the exhaustion of the possibility of never arriving.

MACHINE SERIES
The Machine Series was created using rubbings from industrial machines at my family’s metal fabrication shop to create visual narratives that speak to the inherent beauty found in utility.
On-site found materials including grease, oil, and soot are incorporated in the compositions, along with traditional art materials..

THE DRAFT
THE DRAFT is a series of collages interweaves vintage 33mm slides dated from 1963-64, from a swimming competition juxtaposed with scenes from the escalating war in Vietnam. Pulled from the same moment in history yet recorded in radically different emotional registers, these fragments generate a tension and a dialogue that feels both historical and deeply contemporary.

East Wing Debris Field Mobile Sampler
East Wing Debris Field confronts the demolition of the White House East Wing as an act for the erasure of history in the face of unchecked greed, resurgent fascism and authoritarianism.
This is a collaborative piece by artists Jillian Van Volkenburgh and Nick De Pirro. This mobile sculpture was on view in public locations in and around Washington Square Park, New York, NY on November 22, 2025.

V is for Victory
Laurel is an ancient symbol of triumph historically used to crown emperors, athletes, and the victorious. Once signifying honor and power, even divine favor, the laurel here is dried and left behind with its meaning withered and tethered. Victory is not fixed or celebratory, but unstable, shaped by shifting values and unseen costs. This work asks what it means to triumph where the line between winning and losing is increasingly blurred, and where every crown carries the weight of what has been
compromised, dehumanized, sacrificed, or lost.
